Zac Efron talks about his possible future as a parent

Initially, after becoming famous at a young age, Zac Efron was reluctant to settle down. Unfortunately, the star of “High School Musical” fell victim to the pitfalls that come with celebrities. “I drank way, way too much,” he said The Hollywood Reporter in 2014. “I mean you’re in your twenties, single, going through life in Hollywood, you know? Everything is thrown at you,” he added. Finally, Efron set the bottle down and stepped away from the festivities.

Once his lifestyle changed, Efron considered finding a long-term partner, but he knew it would involve a serious commitment. †[Y]You have to give away a piece of yourself,” he told THR. In 2017, it seemed like the “Neighbours” star was ready to take the plunge. “Now that I’m closer to 30, I have some great relationships and I’ve seen experienced couples at work,” he said cosmopolitan† The Hollywood A-lister said he should prioritize being the best version of himself before pairing up.

In 2021, rumors circulated that Efron was getting serious with his Australian girlfriend Vanessa Valladares. However, Efron quit Valladares when his job beckoned him to return to the United States. “Zac is about to start a busy year of filming and wanted to take a definite break now,” a source told We Weekly then. While working on one of those film projects, Efron realized that he had his own children.

Zac Efron’s Practice of Being a Dad

Zac Efron played a father for the first time in his career when he was cast in the movie “Fire starter.” The experience gave the actor a great insight into being a real parent. “We had a heavy father-daughter scene right away and I realized I was drastically under-prepared for this role,” Efron said of working with his young co-star, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, while performing in “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on May 10. A “bond” developed between the two stars of the film, but it took longer than expected. “I thought it would just kind of click, but no, it really isn’t,” Efron said of his paternal instincts. That prompted DeGeneres to ask if the experience made the “Baywatch” star want children of her own. “I think that was a healthy dose of putting me off for as long as I needed to,” Efron said with a laugh.

As they went around the media to promote the film, ET asked Efron what it felt like to play a “Zaddy” (attractive father) in a movie. The “We Are Your Friends” actor was unfamiliar with the term and focused on other parts of the film. “As a father, as weird as it was to happen, there are far more dangerous things going on,” he replied.

Not everyone was thrilled to see Efron take on a “Zaddy”-esque role, as it made some fans a little too aware of their own mortality. a fan tweeted“Wow, we’re really old – how does Zac Efron play someone’s dad.”
