The confirmation of the cancellation of Standing Up comes from French magazine Les Incrockuptibles Oliver Joyard who writes that despite an enthusiastic launch with critical acclaim, the show will not return. They add that the “two-thirds” script was done and the technical and creative teams have all been fired from their contracts.
Herrero told the magazine (translated from French):
“I am clearly sad and disappointed that Netflix has not let the series sink in, given the enthusiastic, warm reception and testimonials from the press and the public, full of young people we do not know, who insisted on its freshness. † What remains is the pride that I did it with my team, that I enjoyed creating these characters who revealed four great actors, Mariama Gueye, Jean Siuen, Younès Boucif and Elsa Guedj.”
However, we’ll be seeing more of one of the main characters from Standing Up on Netflix. Younes Boucif, who plays Nezir in Standing Up, was recently announced as one of the cast for the English-language Netflix film lonely planet†
