Source reveals how Kate and William plan to modernize the monarchy

There’s been a serious shift in the formality of, well, just about every empire lately. people are crying over instagram, and TikTok makes us feel like we know celebrities personally. It seems that the shift to get more personal has even occurred at the royal level. According to Marie Claire, Prince William and Kate Middleton are making a serious shift to modernize the monarchy. Unfortunately, people are not really sold on the change.

The royals are not your average family. There are a lot of different rules when it comes to how to act around them. According to The British School of ExcellenceThere are certain names you can call each of the family members and ways to make a bow or handshake depending on where you come from. Even the royal family has rules about what order they can be in, and they should enter a room by rank also.

If that sounds like a lot, that’s because it is. Sure, there are hundreds of years of traditions coming into the royal family, but Prince William and Kate are changing things in a big way.

Prince William and Kate Middleton use their first names

Forget everything you know about the royal family because Prince William and Kate Middleton want to be known as Will and Kate. According to The sun, the royal couple is dropping the royal titles in an effort to create a more “modern monarchy”. The publication says the change came after their Caribbean tour. You know, the one where people literally protested to remove Queen Elizabeth as head of state.

“The general consensus was that the tour seemed outdated, out of touch, too formal and stuffy,” a source told The Sun. “So now it’s more ‘Wills and Kate’ rather than the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – ‘Just call me Wills’ kind of thing. They want to try and avoid the bows and bows in public, more approachable, less formal, less stuffy, and break with much of the tradition and focus on a modern monarchy.”

Since nicknames are literally not allowed in the royal family, this is a big change. According to Marie ClaireKate even officially started going by Catherine when she married Prince William. Or shall we say Shall

Fans are not sold on the name changes

The urge to go more modern certainly doesn’t happen overnight. The most modern thing that happened to the royal family was when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to leave it and move to California. When you compare the new name changes to the move, it doesn’t seem that drastic.

Unfortunately, the public also weighs in and they don’t feel like the change is really that modern. “I’m sorry, but do the Cambs really think removing the titles will modernize the monarchy?” a Twitter user comment. “Do they think that’s the problem?” Another Twitter The user even goes far enough to call the term ‘modernization of the monarchy’ an oxymoron.

Ultimately, Prince William and Kate Middleton can be called whatever they want, but the general consensus is that the modernization of the monarchy does not come from name changes. The public seems to be hoping that the couple will make some organic, deep-seated changes as well.
