Kate Bosworth reveals the genre of film she eagerly embarked on – exclusive

No matter how seasoned an actor is, there are always genres, characters, and storylines that stars like eagles can tackle in new projects. After all, that’s the beauty of film and TV: actors create fantasy worlds that fans can then live in. But for Kate Bosworth, her role in the new Netflix movie “Along for the Ride” pays tribute to her real life while allowing her to explore a genre she doesn’t often play with.

The actress is known for her work as Lois Lane in ‘Superman Returns’, Jill in ’21’ and Anne Marie in ‘Blue Crush’ (via IMDb† As fans may recall, those roles were more than a little intense. But now Bosworth is flexing some new acting muscles, and she couldn’t be happier about it.

During an exclusive interview with The List, Kate Bosworth revealed what genre of storytelling she got to delve into during “Along for the Ride” and why she adores her layered character and extraordinaire stepmother, Heidi.

She was excited to dig into comedy

About why Kate Bosworth loved playing Heidi and the genre opportunity the film gave her, she said, “I loved playing Heidi because at first I think I’m looking for a duality in a character, the fragility and also a real one. I was excited to play her because I don’t often get the chance to explore comedy.” Heidi’s comedic moments in the film are subtle and recognizable, and Bosworth’s comedic timing is impeccable.

She also wants fans to know that Heidi is more than the first impression viewers can get of her. “There’s a lot of me in her, but I love the reveal so much that while some people may at first glance think she’s ditzy and you’re not quite sure if she has a lot of depth there, you realize through the arc by [the] character and through the rest of the story that she struggles with and how she eventually overcomes it,” she added. “The relationship between her and Auden is so special.”

“Together for the Ride” is now streaming on Netflix.
